LEAD-Ex Panel Discussion

“I felt very energized, positive, and inspired after attending the event. My hope is that spaces like this can continue to be offered for our young (and elder) women in our communities.”

Over the years, LCL realized the need that in order to fully support the healthy development of young girls that one must also support the community of women that surround them. For this reason, LCL developed the LEAD Expo (LEAD Ex). LEAD Ex is a program designed to “LEAD” change among Black and Brown women, of all ages, together, towards a more collective future. The goals are to create the space for Black and Latina women to become collectively aware of their strengths and talents, to expose young girls to successful women of various backgrounds and experiences, and to highlight the wide array of knowledge, wisdom and power that exists in diverse women of all ages. Thank you the DePaul Steans Center for their partnership and to our community partners for their engagement. For more information about the 2011 LEAD Ex please visit http://lead-ex.weebly.com/. Thanks to the  Society for Community Research and Action (SCRA) 2011 Mini Grant for funding this initiative!

“I was inspired by the women — young and young-at-heart — who shared their wisdom with the group. Seems like the start of a very important conversation to continue. The issues addressed through the LEAD Expo are relevant and critical for our communities at this present time. Looking forward to seeing how leadership can be applied to personal and professional development, especially with our Black and Brown young women.”
